Aitkin County's SHIP Coordinator
I am Hannah. A registered dietitian (RD) on a mission to help people understand and nourish their bodies with optimal nutrition. What I love most about what I do is being able to spread messages that inspire people to feel as good as they can through food, and how to achieve that in a sustainable way. My goal is to help empower people to make healthful eating a natural and fun part of their lifestyle.
I graduated from North Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Science in nutrition and dietetics and completed my dietetic internship with Iowa State University where I obtained a graduate certificate.
After graduation, I started out as a consultant dietitian and noticed a "revolving door" and wanted to help create an environment that supported an individual to make the healthy choice the best choice and switched to community/public health nutrition. Community nutrition encompasses individual and interpersonal-level interventions that create changes in knowledge, attitudes, behavior and health outcomes among individuals, families, or small, target groups within a community setting. So, here I am working with Aitkin County Public Health serving as their SHIP Coordinator, Health Educator and Registered Dietitian for their W.I.C program to do just that!
I am currently working with schools and communities to help design programs, systems, policies and environments that aims to improve or maintain the optimal health of populations not only from a nutrition standpoint but also looking at their overall health and well-being.
